Nepali Trails - Last Details

by Scott Secco

Last Details is the second part (and the last one) of the trip to Nepal with Sandman Bikes. An intense route to ride on a titanium hardtail, crossing valleys, reaching summits, and enjoying one of the longest descents in the world. Everything worked out for me, or almost everything... time will cure anything. See Part 1

I'm willing to make a 1500km trip in 2-3 weeks (not sure about the time yet). Do you think this would be too much of a bike for mostly off road paths (not too rude ones). I just don't want flats every 150km and look like an elephant ejaculated on my back.

 16 hours later, other try:

I want to make a 1000mile (= 1500km) bike trip. Mostly dusty and rocky roads, but nothing too harsh. My question was if a bike with phat tires (moonbike) would be too much for that over a regular mountainbike (2.35" tires).

The part about the elephant... Don't you guys ever have flats and all the sealant squirts on your back? :p I don't want that to happen on that trip.

Nah you should be fine Robby. I'd ride a full suspension with the smaller tires. On his HT those tires were much more forgiving. Good luck - watch out for those elephants!

oh man, that stair crash was so brutal. it was scary when he insisted on riding the rest, as he seemed hurt. pretty crazy that he pulled the rest off with his ankle/heel injury.

I live and work with a friend from Nepal and we were planning a trip from Tibet to Nepal this winter, I wasn't sure until I watched these two videos. Totally inspiring. Booking tickets...
